Athletic Association | Organizes all efforts to provide our athletes (3rd - 12th grade) with the opportunity to play on different athletic fields at various levels of competition. Our sports teams range from 3rd grade soccer to cheerleading to 12th grade boys basketball. Respect, Sportsmanship and Christian Morals are the foundation of this program. |
Bingo | A group of seniors from SMM and the surrounding area that gather for Bingo, cards, and light refreshments. Dues are $5 from Sept. to May. The contacts for Bingo are Kathy Carver and Jeanne Dorivich. Meets Thurs. from 1PM - 3 PM in Church Hall. Not July & Aug. |
Children's Liturgy of the Word | Have your child experience the Word of God through child-friendly language and song. Parents are welcome to join their children for this time of worship. After the opening prayer, children are invited to come forward, receive the Word of God as adapted for children, and go down to the hall, where volunteers read the word, a reflection is given, the psalm is sung, and children return to the Mass upstairs for the Communion rite. Home and School Assoc. (HSA) | A cooperative, non-profit organization that promotes the welfare of children and youth in the home, school, church & community. HSA has numerous committees that work with SMM school. |
Knights of Columbus | A fraternal organization for men aged 18 or older that are practicing Catholics. The Council based at St. Mary Magdalen Church is known as The Bishop Curtis Council. They perform over 50 activities a year that support the Church, community, and youth of our area. They raise money through projects that helps host activities in the efforts listed above. Scouts: Boy Scouts & Cub | Boy Scouts: An organization for boys 11 to 18 years of age. We focus on promoting good values and character mixed in with some basic outdoor and social skills. Boy Scouts enjoy camping and various other outdoor activities every month. Cub Scouts: An organization for boys in 1st - 5th grades. We focus on promoting good values and character mixed in with some basic outdoor and social skills. We try to do this in a fun, family environment. |
Scouts: Girl Scouts, Cadettes, Juniors, Brownies, and Daisies | Girl Scouts: Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. We support the girls with programs and events, create specialized awards and provide a strong background in developing girls full individual potential. The program also includes the “My Promise, My Faith” award, where girls work within their religious communities to learn more about the Girl Scout Law and how it ties in with their individual faith. Girl Scouting is open to all girls in grades K-12. 99% of all adults in Girl Scouting are volunteers. At SMM we offer the following levels for girl scouts: Cadettes: A Girl Scouts organization for girls in 6th – 8th grades. The girls mix and match activities and resources to suit their needs while giving back to their communities. The also participate in activities such as kayaking, archery and orienteering. Juniors: A Girl Scouts organization for girls in 4th – 5th grades. We focus on providing community services and have fun trying new things such as tennis, hiking, camping, roller-skating, canoeing, and horseback riding. Brownies: A Girl Scouts organization for girls in 2nd - 3rd grades. The main focus of this young group is public service projects and furthering the girls scouting experience. Daisies: A Girl Scouts organization for girls in kindergarten and 1st grade. The main focus of this young group is an introduction to scouting and crafts. |
Sodality | The Sodality promotes the Fatima First Saturday devotions requested by the Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus. Sodality stays after the 1st Saturday Daily Mass to say the Rosary. Assistance to our pastor in service to the parish is also a priority. Meetings are held monthly following 1st Sat. Mass and Rosary (No meeting held during the summer.)
